(3rd Sunday of January)
This is considered the grandest
of all feasts honoring the Sto.Nino-the
image of the Holy Child Jesus.The
week-long celebration is highlighted
by sinulog dances,cultural shows,carnivals
and twilight procession. Sinulog
dance is based on the movement
of the river current,hence the
dancers move with wave-like
movement.People converge along
the routre of a grand procession
and partake in the gaiety amidst
a Mardi Gras parade and immersed
in wild colors and the contant
beating of drums to the yells
of “Pit Senor“.

raiders. This served as the nucleus
of the first Spanish settlement
in the Philippines.

was built by the Spaniards in
the time of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi.
Named after Christopher Columbus,
it is the heart of downtown Cebu,
a glittering area by night lined
with moviehouses, restaurants,
department stores, and other business
establishments. An obelisk detailing
its historical significance was
constructed on its northern end. |

Kawasan
Falls
The best place to unwind here
in Cebu. When you get to Matutina,
Badian which is located on the
southern part of Cebu island,
you will have to hike some 20-25minutes
before reaching the first falls.
You'll be mesmerized when you
get there and after the long walk
you would want to go for a dip
immediately.
Some 5-10 minutes treak going
up above the first falls, you'd
be able to reach the other 3 sub-falls
and also the source. One can feel
the coolness of the surrounding
lush greenery of this panoramic
waterfalls. Accomodation from
cheap to moderate rates are available.
